Our Safe Haven Program
PARENTAL CODE OF CONDUCT
I WILL:
- Cheer in positive manner for my child and for all the other children on
the field.
- Make a commitment to get my child to practices & games in a timely
fashion.
- Fulfill my parental obligations, knowing the AYSO Region 28 in an
all-volunteer organization.
- Encourage my child to play soccer for the enjoyment of the sport.
- Stress that having fun & feeling good about oneself is more
important than winning.
- Show the same love and affection to my child after a losing game as a
winning game.
- Speak privately to an AYSO official if any problems arise.
- Consider the feelings of all children involved in the game, both my
child’s team and the opposing team.
- Encourage my child and their team with positive praise and extend
praise to opponents as well.
- See that my child fulfills their commitment to the team for the full
duration of the season.
- Encourage my child’s involvement in sports.
- Recognizing and praise good effort, even when things are not going
well.
- Remain in the designated spectator area during the contest and not
enter onto the playing field.
- Remember that AYSO’s Goals for my child are for him/her to have fun,
to improve soccer skills, to learn social skills, to be physically fit and
to share these experiences with friends.
- Equal praise to all players, whether they are Defending the goal or
Scoring the goal. Remember, a team can not function without a Goalie, praise
the Goalie as well.
I WILL NOT:
Yell criticism to any child on the field.
- Interfere with my child’s coach.
- Make derogatory comments to or about coaches, referees, players or
parents, including those of the opposing team.
- Get so involved in the game that I place my child in an uncomfortable
or stressful situation.
- Place winning ahead of having fun.
- Compare my child’s abilities with another child’s. All children
have different abilities and maturity levels.
- Expect adult behavior and reactions from my child.
REMEMBER:
IT’S YOUR CHILD’S GAME NOT YOURS!
MOST OF US PARENTS WOULD NOT LAST THE LENGTH OF A REGULATION GAME ON THE
FIELD. DON’T EXPECT KIDS TO RUN FROM ONE END OF THE FIELD TO THE OTHER IN 0-6
SECONDS. GIVE THE KIDS A BREAK!
THANK THE REFEREES, COACHES, TEAM MOMS AND ALL VOLUNTEERS!
THANK YOU PARENTS. FROM YOUR REGION 28 AYSO BOARD MEMBERS.
Feel free to contact our Child
/ Volunteer Protection Advocate if you have questions or concerns.
